Initial Orthodontic Exam
Your initial visit to see Dr. Walle is very important, allowing us to get to know each other and determine what you hope to accomplish with your smile.
During this visit, Dr. Walle will answer questions that you may have such as the type of orthodontic treatment needed, when you should start treatment, and the estimated treatment time. If orthodontic treatment is needed, Dr. Walle and his team will work with each patient to determine fees and payment options before treatment begins.
There are five essential questions that Dr. Walle reviews during the initial examination with each patient:
- Is there an orthodontic problem, and if so, what is it?
- What must be done to correct the problem?
- Will any teeth need to be removed?
- How long will the treatment take to complete?
- How much will the treatment cost?
At this point Dr. Walle may recommend that a complete set of orthodontic records be taken, which includes digital x-rays, digital photos, and digital models. Dr. Walle will then have a conference with you to discuss your orthodontic treatment in detail. This allows you to fully understand your treatment and our office policies before tooth movement begins!
It is recommended that a dental checkup be scheduled with your dentist prior to starting treatment and after braces are removed. Follow your dentist’s advice regarding the need for regular checkups and cleanings during your orthodontic treatment. Restoration of decayed teeth is generally completed before orthodontic treatment is started.
